How do I pair the Ava with my Android phone?

Last Updated: Dec 13, 2017 11:57AM CET
Before wearing Ava for the first time, it needs to be paired with the app.

Please make sure your phone is running on Android operating system 5.0 or higher and has a connection to the internet.
  1. If you haven’t already done so, please download the free Ava app from the Play Store.
  2. Once downloaded, the Ava app will prompt you to set up your account.
  3. Register your account details (e-mail address/username and password).
  4. Check your e-mail for the activation link (check your Spam folder too just in case).
  5. Click the activation link.
  6. Now that your account is activated, plug in your Ava – this turns on the Ava’s Bluetooth. You should see a blinking blue light on top of the Ava now.

  7. Turn on your phone’s Bluetooth and Location Access (GPS icon).
  8. If your phone's Bluetooth menu pops up, close the Bluetooth menu without pairing your Ava – pairing will be done through the app.
    • *Location Access enables Bluetooth low energy signalling to work, rest assured that we do not use this to identify your actual location.
*For users on Android 6, 7, 8, please go to Settings > Location > enable toggle to switch on Location > Improve accuracy > High accuracy

  9. *please do not use your phone's Bluetooth menu to pair with the bracelet

  10. Now, open your Ava app, you will automatically be brought to the Pair Ava screen.
  11. Depending on the Android device, the Ava app might prompt you with a pop-up window stating, "Allow this app to access your device's location?" with options to Allow or Deny. Select Allow.
  12. Now click Pair Ava in the Ava app. It should now pair and the blue light on your Ava bracelet should be a solid blue (and no longer blinking). A solid blue light means the connection between your Ava bracelet and the app has been established.

*The Ava is "findable" for the first 10 minutes that it's plugged in. If you haven’t paired yet and if your Ava stopped blinking blue, unplug and plug in Ava again - this will restart the searching mode to make Ava findable and the top light will blink blue again.

**On subsequent mornings, plug in your Ava before:
  • turning on Bluetooth
  • turning on Location Access (GPS icon)
  • opening the app

***Syncing of the data should then start automatically and the light on top of the Ava should change from blinking blue to a solid blue.
****Once syncing is complete, the solid blue light on top of your Ava will switch to a solid red light to indicate that it is now in charging mode.
